Soul Purpose Web Design was born from the shared journey of Chris and Jo Taplin—a husband-and-wife team combining deep experience in both holistic wellbeing and digital design.
We’ve raised a family, grown through life’s ups and downs, and built careers that we’re now bringing together to support practitioners like you.
Jo’s Story (ladies first, of course!)
Jo began her career 30 years ago in the world of high-end beauty therapy, working with prestigious and well-known spas and worldwide cosmetic brands.
Everything changed when her father was diagnosed with cancer. Like many people in that position, she started searching for alternative ways to help, and what she found was life-changing.
Her research into organic ingredients and natural therapies opened her eyes to the questionable synthetic ingredients in many conventional products. That realisation sparked a complete shift in her path, from beauty therapy to holistic beauty.
Jo is now a passionate advocate for natural and energetic therapies. A career highlight was being awarded the prestigious Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) Beauty Therapist of the Year award at their National Awards hosted in London 2019. As a Holistic Beauty Therapist, she’s also Reiki Master Teacher, Angelic Reiki Master Teacher, Meditation Instructor, Crystal Therapist, Advanced Aromatherapist and Integral Multi-Instrument Sound Healing Practionor. Her journey continues with ongoing study and spiritual development.
Jo’s career has seen her work in high-end spas, being a freelance therapist, providing training for other therapists and building her own successful holistic practice. So Jo understands what it means to run a holistic practice—and what clients are really seeking when they come to you.
Chris’ Story
Chris is the digital mind behind Soul Purpose.
Originally trained as a graphic designer, he transitioned into web design in the early days of the internet. While working in advertising in the 1990s, Chris led the development of one of the UK’s first online directories for the motorcycle industry—an early dive into digital marketing that sparked a lifelong passion.
Since then, he’s designed and built hundreds of websites, crafted lead-generation campaigns, and helped UK businesses grow their online presence—some generating millions in revenue thanks to his work.
Chris is also a member of UK Business Advisors, where he supports small and medium-sized businesses as a trusted digital marketing advisor. He’s been a mentor to entrepreneurs and start-ups, offering clear, jargon-free advice to help them build strong, sustainable online platforms.
Over the years, Chris has also rescued many businesses who felt stuck with slow, underperforming, or poorly supported websites—often built by large web site providers. Whether clients were frustrated by bad service, limited control, or disappointing results, Chris has helped them regain clarity, control, and confidence with a website that finally works for them.
Where Jo brings heart, intuition, and a deep understanding of the holistic world, Chris brings technical know-how, strategic thinking, and creative direction to ensure your website performs just as beautifully as it looks.
